This stir fry sauce is a proper one that really tastes like what you get at Chinese restaurants!
3 tsp cornstarch/cornflour
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine or dry sherry
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp peanut oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
7 oz/200 g beef, thinly sliced
½ small onion, sliced
½ red bell pepper/capsicum, sliced
1 small carrot, thinly sliced
3 baby pak choy, quartered
2 stems scallion/shallots, 1.5″/3cm pieces
1 Mix cornstarch and 2 tbsp of water.
2 Add remaining Sauce ingredients EXCEPT ⅓ cup water.
3 Marinate beef with 2 tbsp Sauce for 15 minutes.
4 Add water into remaining Sauce.
5 Heat oil on high heat.
6 Cook: garlic (15 sec), onion (1 min), beef (45 seconds), carrots + bell pepper (30 sec)
7 Add sauce, pak choy and scallions, cook for 1 minute.
8 Serve with rice.
